BRICK BY BRICK:
TALES FROM THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD
BRICK #1: YELLOW BRICKS AND BLUE VELVET
"There needed to be a song that encapsulated who Dee was, is, and would become, whether it be the abused, innocent blonde-haired farm girl, the fiery, confident, and sexy woman, or whomever. A friend of mine had introduced me to the beautiful and haunting voice of Lana Del Rey. The song was Blue Velvet. The opening symphony was very reminiscent of the first few notes of the Somewhere Over the Rainbow melody, and as soon as Lana's voice ushered in the lyrics 'She wore blue velvet,' I knew that I had found the voice of Yellow Brick Road. And as symbolism would have it, Dorothy wore blue."

BRICK #2: SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW
"It must've been a song that I heard faintly in the distance from an overhead mall speaker when leaving a late movie, or perhaps it was a song that I had heard fleetingly at a grocery store. While I can't quite recall when and where I first heard this beautiful song, I can absolutely remember how it made me feel the very first time that I had heard it. As with most of my work, I like to write with a soundtrack in mind. Each track represents a different emotion in the film. Sometimes a soft song will inspire a touching scene, or, as irony would have it, sometimes a soft song will inspire an intense scene. As I started to take notes on what would eventually become Yellow Brick Road, I had recalled this particular song that I had only heard in passing, particularly its four words. This was a song that I ritually played as a sort of ambience to the writing process, one that can easily be translated to both a touching scene as Dee spending a reminiscent moment with her Aunt Clara, or an intense scene as Dee enduring another round of abuse at the hands of her Uncle Charley. The foundation of all emotions found within Yellow Brick Road, and an anthem, or ode, to Dee, Israel 'IZ' Kamakawiwo'ole's rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow is a fine and touching example of how the classic 1939 The Wizard of Oz has inspired others much like it has most certainly inspired Yellow Brick Road."

VOICES FROM THE ROAD
Few have taken the journey, but for those who have traveled the Yellow Brick Road, they have brought back experiences of their own...
"When I started reading this script, I was transported into a world that was hard to take, but impossible to turn away from. I can only imagine the potential when the camera starts to roll on this one!"
-Tara McLearnon, Actress

"I was offered the opportunity to read this script after meeting with Alfredo and talking for some time about film, acting, and why we do what we do. I had seen some of Alfredo's previous short film work, and was excited about this opportunity to read a potential feature.
"Put simply, I was blow away! The depth of detail in the writing lights up the story in your mind as if you were watching it unfold before you. The layering of the main story, the character arcs, the incredibly visual writing style and energy that just comes off the page, grabs you and pulls you in is fantastic. From that moment, I knew for sure that Alfredo Salvatore Arcilesi is not only genius in his writing, but is also the kind of maverick filmmaker that audiences are craving. It was an honor to read it and I look forward to this work making it to the screen for all to enjoy!"
-Adam Ginsberg, Actor/Co-Founder Twitch Twitch Productions

"I was honoured to have bee given the chance to read Yellow Brick Road when Alfredo sent me the script after finding out how much I adored The Wizard of Oz and its adaptations. Though this story is not for the faint of heart, it is indeed full of heart. The script had me in the palm of its hand from the very beginning and I yearned for Dee to find her true peace as she passed in and out of lives more deranged than the last. The writing style definitely grabbed me as Alfredo utilizes all different sorts of film genres to further tell the story. When finishing the script, I appreciated what I saw to be a theme: to truly heal yourself, you need to help heal others. Just be freaking careful while you're doing it."
-Kelly Ames, Actress
----------
"It is simply a piece of art. I appreciated it so much beyond what can be articulated in this forum. The imagery is stunning; so well-crafted and thought out. I could see the film play as I read. Disturbing yet beautiful, dark yet light. It's incredible. Such a twist on the story we all THINK we know. Unbelievable."
